Layla Pics
Since January, Layla has been in the hospital four times. The first time was for uncontrollable vomitting and RSV, which she overcame like a champ. The next two times were for uncontrollable vomitting again. After the third time, we finally figured out that there was a pattern and the vomitting seemed to be cyclical showing up about every 10 days or so. It would start with congestion that would clear up only to have her vomit for 48-72 hours which made it impossible to keep her meds down. So, then she would begin having seizures and become dehydrated. After meeting with a pulmonologist and ENT, along with the opinion of her awesome pediatrician, Dr. Organ, we decided that it would be in her best interest to have her tonisls and adenoids removed. Her tonsils were nearly touching, which couldn't have been pleasant, and it also caused her to sound like she was snoring when she breathed. Needless to say, that got us stares everywhere we went.
She had the operation a week ago today (20 June) at Scott and White in Temple, Tx. We were very concerned about how she would do with the anesthesia but she pulled through with flying colors. She amazes us everyday with just how strong she is. However, she did have a set back and ended up developing post-op pneumonia. She got to come home late Wednesday night and we're happy to say that she's doing great and breathing so much better.
And while we love all of the doctors and nurses at Scott and White, we could really stand to go a while without seeing them, at least at the hospital. :)

Giving "birds" at therapy in March. Must have been a good day.
